Overview
Manage custom fields to make sure your data is captured and maintained consistently. In this article, we'll cover how to add, edit or remove custom fields.
Where To Manage Custom Fields
Custom fields can be managed by navigating to Management > Application Settings>Custom Fields. Within the custom field management page you can:
Search for existing custom fields
Set existing custom fields to pin by default
Edit or Delete custom fields
Add a new custom field
Add a Custom Field
Click on the +Add Field button located in the upper right-hand corner of the Custom Field Management page.
Enter the details for the custom field you are creating:
Field Name: Provide a name for your custom field.
Description: Enter a description that will be visible to end users, explaining the purpose or usage of the custom field.
Field Type: Select the location where this custom field will appear (e.g., Patient or Order).
Pinned: Choose whether to pin the custom field. Pinned fields will always be displayed on the Patient Quick View panel when navigating through patient or order records.
Choose the Field Type: Custom fields can be created with different types of input options, including:
Free Text
Date
Checkbox
Number
Dropdown Selections
These field types can be defined for custom fields with a location set to either Patient or Order.
Editing an existing Custom Field
Navigate to the Custom Field Management page.
Find the custom field you wish to edit.
Click on the Pencil Icon next to the field to enter edit mode.
Make the necessary changes to the field's settings.
Note: Once a custom field is created, the Field Type cannot be modified. You will need to create a new custom field if you wish to change the field type.
Pin or Unpin an existing Custom Field
Go to the Custom Field Management page.
Locate the custom field you want to pin or unpin.
Click on the Pin Icon next to the field.
If the field is not pinned, clicking the icon will pin it.
If the field is already pinned, clicking the icon will unpin it.
Delete an Existing Custom Field
How to Delete Custom Fields:
Delete a Single Field:
Find the custom field you want to remove.
Click the trash icon next to the field to delete it.
Delete Multiple Fields:
Check the boxes next to the custom fields you want to remove.
After selecting the fields, click the Delete button to remove all selected fields at once.
