Scheduling Your Drivers in Routing

Learn how to add your drivers and set their weekly availability, service areas, and working hours so routes can be built around who's available.

Routing and Dispatching Setup — Step 2 of 3

Routing Step 2- Schedule Your Drivers

Setting up Routing and Dispatching in NikoHealth happens in three steps. This article covers the second: scheduling your drivers. After you've setup your service areas, you're ready to tell NikoHealth who's available to deliver, which service areas they cover, and when they're working.

Before you start: make sure your drivers can be scheduled

Drivers must be added to NikoHealth as a teammate, and scheduling must be enabled for them. To do this:

  1. Go to the Management tab.

  2. Under Access Control, go to Teammates.

  3. Open the driver's Team Member details and make sure the Available for Scheduling box is checked.

Tip: If a person's name is missing from the list when you click Add Driver, it's likely they haven't been added to NikoHealth or they don't have scheduling enabled.

View Your Drivers

Go to the Routing Management screen:

Management > Premium Features > Settings > Routing

Click on the Drivers tab.

On the right-hand side, you'll see a list of the drivers you've set up in NikoHealth. And below each driver's name, you can see which service area they're assigned to.

Add a New Driver

While in the Drivers tab, click the blue Add Driver button.

Select the driver from the dropdown list of names.

Note: if a driver's name does not appear in the list, be sure they've been added to NikoHealth and Scheduling has been enabled in their Teammate settings.

Setup Driver Schedule

Click on the Driver's name in the side panel.

At the top, select the days of the week this driver will be available.

Below the days, add the driver's service area and working hours for each day they're available. Note that you can add multiple time blocks and service areas within one day. Use the plus and minus buttons to add or remove multiple shifts for a day.

If the driver's schedule is the same across multiple days, configure the settings once and click the button for Apply to all days. This will copy the schedule for each day.

If you need to remove any days for the driver's schedule, click the weekday at the top to unselect.

When the driver's schedule is set, click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.

Next step: Once your drivers are scheduled, continue to Step 3 — Planning & Dispatching Your Routes to generate, optimize, and send routes to your drivers.
