CMN Rules
CMN rules are used for HCPCS that require a CMN with the payer, most commonly used for Medicare. The system will flag your invoice as CMN required if one is not logged in the patient’s file.
If a CMN rule is not defined for Medicare, the electronic transmission of applicable CMN information will not occur.
To add a new CMN rule, find the “CMN” tab, select it, then click “Add rule” on the right.
Search for the HCPCS that require CMNs, you can add more than one if they follow the same CMN template.
Be sure to click the blue plus sign to lock in your HCPCS code after each entry.
Click on “Select Template” drop down to choose the correct CMN template for your HCPCS.
You can add additional CMN rules if needed, but always be sure to select Save on the bottom right when complete.
