How to transmit electronic medical attachments with claims ?

This article will discuss how to transmit electronic medical attachments with claims.

It is important to note that while the list of payers that are able to accept electronic medical attachments is growing, not all payers can accept this today. A majority of workers comp payers do support this electronic delivery method.

Your account must be setup to support this functionality prior to being able to transmit attachments electronically. To learn more about the use of electronic medical attachments please contact your account manager or support@nikohealth.com.

To attach one or multiple attachments to an invoice:

  1. Select the invoice you would like to add attachments to.

  2. Click Modify to enter the edit mode of the invoice.

  3. Navigate to the supplemental information located on the upper right hand side of the invoice. This is the claim level area and not on the service line.

  4. Enter the information in the required fields and select a transmission code of Electronically Only.

  5. Select the document from the document search field. This will pull in documents from the patients document management.

  6. If needed repeat the steps for additional attachments.

  7. Once complete click the save checkmark icon on the upper right hand side.

  8. This invoice along with attachments is ready to submit by clicking on the Submit action.

The claim (837) along with medical attachments (275) will be transmitted to the clearinghouse.
