Overview

Once you have created a playbook template you will need to assign the playbook rule to a payer. For more information on creating templates, see the article Manage Playbook Templates.

In this article, we’ll go over how to create an assignment and manage it.

Create a Playbook Template Assignment

Click Management in the top menu.

In the left menu, click Billing Setup and select Payers in the submenu.

Use the search and filter fields at the top to locate the desired payer.

Click on the desired payer. Select the Rules tab in the top left.

Select Playbooks.

Here you can create a rule for when playbook templates should appear for orders. There are two ways to associate playbook templates, with a generic rule or with a product-specific rule, we’ll go over both below.

Generic Rule

A generic rule will apply based on HCPC codes and plans for a payer. Click Add generic rule in the top right to create a new rule.

First, enter the desired HCPCS code and click the plus sign to add it. You can select more than one code.

If you want the playbook to apply for certain plans, select them in the Select Plan dropdown. You can select more than one plan. If no plan is selected, the playbook will apply to all plans.

Finally, select the applicable playbook templates. Click the Playbook Templates field to see a dropdown of options. You can choose more than one template.

Product Specific Rule

A product specific rule allows you to select a product from your catalog and assign a playbook template based on that product being in an order.

Click Product specific rule in the top right.

Choose the desired product from the catalog. Use the Filter field to quickly find the desired product and click Add for the product. You can add multiple products. Click Continue when finished.

Each of your selected products will show on the page. Use the Playbook Templates dropdown to select the desired template. You can add more than one.

If you want the playbook to apply for certain plans, select them in the Select Plan dropdown. You can select more than one plan. If no plan is selected, the playbook will apply to all plans.

Save Assignment

Click Save in the bottom right to keep new rules or save changes. When creating an order the playbook will automatically appear according to the rules defined.

You can edit rules at any time by following the process above.

Remove Assignment

To delete an entire rule, click the trashcan to the far right.

You can also remove individual templates or HCPCS from rules by clicking the X of the appropriate option. You will need to save any changes.
