In this article, you will learn how to add and manage Referring Providers. This feature allows you manage Referring Providers and related office locations in an organized way.
Add a New Referring Provider
To add a Referring Provider, also known as Referring Physicians, go to the Management Tab: Management > Referral Hub > Referring Providers
Click the Blue NikoHealth Plus Button on the upper right hand side of the page. This will bring you to the New Referring Provider Details section.
Here, you can enter the Referring Provider details.
NPI Registry Integration
NikoHealth is integrated with CMS's National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) NPI registry and database. You can leverage our Populate NPI Data and NPI Lookup buttons to pull information from the registry and save yourself time and keystrokes.
If you know the NPI number of the Referring Provider, you can enter it and click the Populate NPI Data to auto-complete the Provider's details based on what's listed in the NPI Registry. Alternatively, if you only have partial information on the Provider, you can search the NPI registry for that Provider and pull in all available details by clicking on the NPI Lookup button.
(Note: NPI validation occurs at the time of creating the Referring Provider and the system will flag you with an error message if the Referring Provider NPI cannot be validated. PECOS enrollment verification occurs at the time of creating or updating the Referring Provider and will indicate if the provider is enrolled or not.)
Add Notes to Provider Details and Locations
You can add Notes to the Referring Provider's details and/or the Referring Provider's location. Notes entered in either section will appear for your team when this Referring Provider is selected on an order.
This is helpful to provide your teams with any information that they should take note of when processing an order for a Referring Provider.
Add a Sales Rep
You can attach a Sales Rep to a Referring Provider. This can be done on a location level by selecting the NikoHealth user in the Sales Rep field. Please keep in mind that the user must have an account in NikoHealth to be added as a Sales Rep.
If the Referring Provider has multiple locations that you expect to process orders from, you can add a unique Sales Rep per location which will allow you to report orders by Referring Provider location and Sales Rep relationship.
Add Address and Locations
Add a Primary Address for the Referring Provider. Be sure to complete all required fields (denoted with a *).
If the Referring Provider has multiple locations that you expect to process orders from, you can add those additional locations by clicking the + Add Location button.
Save New Referring Provider
Once you are all set click on the "Save" button and you can begin using this referring provider for order processing.
