Add a Note to an Order

You can create notes in several places to streamline your workflow. In this article, we’ll cover the different places you can create a note as well as the information you can store in and link to a note.

Use caution when creating notes, you will not be able to edit a note. The only way to change a note is to delete it and redo it. Only users with the designated permissions are able to delete notes.


Navigate to Order

Navigate to the Order you're working with and intend to attach a note to.

While in the Order, click the Blue NikoHealth Action Button and choose New Note.

You can also click the Notes tab at the top of the record. This will display all associated notes and provide a space to enter a new note at the bottom.


Complete Order Note

Note Subject

Order notes require a Subject. This is a category that the note belongs to or addresses. This can be useful when trying to organize or filter your notes.

Choose the subject that applies to your new Order Note. Note subjects must be set up ahead of time in the Management Tab. For more information on creating Note Subjects, visit our help article collection on Notes.

Note Template

Some types of notes allow you to use note templates to fill in text. This is useful if you have notes that are frequently written and would like to add the content with the click of a button.

Click Template and choose the appropriate template from the menu.

The templates available depend on the type of note you are making. To learn how to add and manage note templates, visit our help article collection on Notes.

Note Contents

Enter the desired information for your note in the Type your note here… section.

When you are done and have selected any other applicable options, you can submit the Order Note. If you just wish to attach this note to the Order, click the Blue Submit button .

You also have the option to add this note to the Patient Profile for whom the Order is associated with. To attach this note to the Patient Profile, click the Blue Down Arrow Button.

Note: Once you have entered a note, you can not edit it. The only option to change the note is to delete the note and start again.


Pin a Note

Important notes can be "pinned" to the patient side bar for easy viewing. To pin a note, hover over it and click the thumbtack icon.

You can now find the note under Pinned Notes in the sidebar.

You can unpin a note by clicking the thumbtack icon again.


Delete a Note

Only users with the designated permissions are able to delete notes.

To delete a note, hover over the note and click the trashcan icon to the right. Use caution when deleting a note, this cannot be undone.
