Creating Playbook Templates

Understanding Playbooks

Playbooks in NikoHealth are basically smart, configurable checklists that live on Orders and are driven by Payer/Product rules. Playbooks don’t block you from moving an Order forward, but they give you a consistent, visible “did we do all the things and get all the documents?” guide for that Order type.

Example: CPAP Intake Playbook

  1. Verify RX

  2. Check sleep study

  3. Confirm usage criteria

  4. Collect signed delivery ticket.

Operationally, think of a Playbook as your organization's SOP for a specific type of Order— baked right into the Order screen— with checkboxes, Document requirements, and optional Tasks. Playbooks are linked to Payer rules so that, for specific Payers/ HCPCS/Products, the correct Playbook automatically appears on the Order.

Creating Playbook Templates

Playbooks are created by building Playbook templates. To create a new Playbook template, navigate to your Application Settings:

Management > Application Settings > Playbook Templates

In the queue, you'll see a list of any existing Playbooks in NikoHealth. To create a new Playbook click on the blue NikoHealth action button.

Give your Playbook a name and description. Click "Add New Checklist". Give your checklist a name and add your list of tasks associated with the checklist. You can add multiple tasks to each checklist, and multiple checklists to a Playbook. You can also add a Document requirement to the Playbook.

Playbook checklists can easily be deleted and duplicated by clicking in the right corner.

When you're done, Save your Playbook and it will now appear in the Playbook template list.

Delete Playbook Templates

Playbook templates can be deleted from the Playbook queue. Hover over the Playbook template you want to delete, and click the red trash can. Warning: Deleting a template cannot be undone, so use caution.

Now that you've created your Playbook, you can assign it to a Payer or Payer Plan. For more information, visit our help article on Assigning a Playbook Rule to a Payer.
