Overview

When new users are created or when user responsibilities change, you need to manage their software permissions. In NikoHealth there are two ways to assign permissions to a user.

Assigning a user role gives a custom set of access rights to a user. You can create user roles for your organization based on job titles and responsibilities. User roles are helpful when multiple employees need the same software permissions and save you the time of manually entering the same information again and again. Users can have one or more user roles.

Individual permissions are access rights assigned to and unique to an individual user. Individual permissions are helpful for users who need special access or restrictions on their access not shared by other employees.

We’ll go over how to add user roles and manage individual permissions for users in this article.

Assign a User Role

First, you need to open the appropriate user profile. For help locating user profiles, see the article Find and View a User Profile.

At the top of the user profile, click the Permissions tab.

In the Roles field, start typing the name of the desired user role. Click the appropriate user role in the dropdown. You can add multiple roles.

Don’t see a role for what you need? See our article Create a User Role.

To remove a role, click the X.

When you’re done, click Save in the bottom right. Any permissions assigned to that user role will now be given to that user.

Add User Permissions

First, you need to open the appropriate user profile. For help locating user profiles, see the article Find and View a User Profile.

At the top of the user profile, click the Permissions tab.

In the User Permissions section, you’ll see a list of all the possible permissions a user can be granted. Anything added here will only apply to the individual user.

To add a permission, click to fill in the checkbox.

Note that some of the permissions can have a Location and Terminal set for them. This means that the permission will only be granted when a user is working out of a specific location or when using a specified terminal.

You can select multiple locations or terminals by using the checkboxes in the dropdown. In the example below, a user is being granted permission to view a patient profiles at two locations.

Use the search bar at the top to find permissions quickly.

When you’re done, click Save in the bottom right. Any permissions assigned to that user will now take effect.
