How to think through your data migration process

Data migration involves 4 basic steps:

  1. Identify the data

  2. Extract the data

  3. Transform the data

  4. Upload data onto your NikoHealth site

Identifying Your Data

Identify the data you want to migrate by reviewing information stored in your legacy software systems and asking the following questions:

  1. What data would you like to migrate over ?

  2. What data do you want to live out its days in your old system?

  3. Where is the data available ?

Extracting Your Data

Once you have identified what data you wish to migrate, give consideration to how this data can be exported from its current system as reporting capabilities vary system to system.

Transforming Your Data

Systems have different terms and meanings for data sets and it is important to understand how to map data from a legacy system. NikoHealth supports the industries largest data conversion platform so feel free to ask your dedicated implementation team for support regarding any data migration needs.
